Ingredients

  • 1-1 shots espresso, chilled (or ½ cup strong brewed coffee)
  • ½ cup prepared Salvadoran horchata, my recipe linked here
  • ½ cup vanilla creamer, dairy or non-dairy; sweetened or unsweetened
  • Pinch ground cinnamon, for garnish
  • Sweetener to taste, sugar, honey, agave, or piloncillo syrup
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Brew ½ cup strong coffee or pull 1–2 shots of espresso and let cool slightly.
  • In a glass, pour in the horchata, then add ice.
  • Slowly pour in the espresso or coffee, followed by the vanilla creamer.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon and stir gently to combine.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness as desired. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • For a layered look, pour the espresso slowly over the back of a spoon.
  • Use homemade or store-bought Salvadoran horchata—both work great.
  • Sweetened creamer adds dessert-like flavor; unsweetened gives balance.
  • Chill coffee fully before mixing to prevent watered-down flavor.
