Iced Salvadoran Horchata Latte
This Iced Salvadoran Horchata Latte blends the nutty, spiced flavor of horchata with smooth espresso or coffee for a creamy, refreshing drink. Sweet, aromatic, and perfectly balanced, it’s a unique twist on a classic iced latte inspired by Salvadoran flavors.
Ingredients
- 1-1 shots espresso, chilled (or ½ cup strong brewed coffee)
- ½ cup prepared Salvadoran horchata, my recipe linked here
- ½ cup vanilla creamer, dairy or non-dairy; sweetened or unsweetened
- Pinch ground cinnamon, for garnish
- Sweetener to taste, sugar, honey, agave, or piloncillo syrup
- Ice
Instructions
- Brew ½ cup strong coffee or pull 1–2 shots of espresso and let cool slightly.
- In a glass, pour in the horchata, then add ice.
- Slowly pour in the espresso or coffee, followed by the vanilla creamer.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and stir gently to combine.
- Taste and adjust sweetness as desired. Enjoy immediately.
Notes
- For a layered look, pour the espresso slowly over the back of a spoon.
- Use homemade or store-bought Salvadoran horchata—both work great.
- Sweetened creamer adds dessert-like flavor; unsweetened gives balance.
- Chill coffee fully before mixing to prevent watered-down flavor.
