How to Make the Easiest 4-Ingredient Creamy Mashed Potatoes

This 4-Ingredient Creamy Mashed Potato recipe is simplicity at it’s absolute finest, my friends.

These mashed potatoes are extra smooth, they’re rich and they’re the perfect sidekick for your fave protein. You’re just 4-ingredients away from elevating tonight’s dinner plate!

Now, I’m a girl who loves to be a lil’ extra at times. And when we’re talkin’ mashed potatoes I’m talkin’ pounds of shredded cheese mixed in, freshly roasted garlic, loads of fresh herbs—the whole nine yards. But when I’m pairing my mashed potatoes with quality meat, chicken or fish.seafood, sometimes less is more so that each item on your plate has it’s moment to shine.

And that’s not to say that your mashed potatoes are supposed to be bland so that your preciously expensive cut of steak has it’s moment to shine. It’s more so that no one item one your plate overpowers the other, and that you’re able to truly appreciate each and every dish—both on it’s own and together.

So this recipe is NOT BLAND. It tastes AMAZING on it’s own, and AMAZING paired with anything else. We’re just keeping it as true to it’s natural self as possible to truly appreciate it’s true flavor 🙂

How to Make These 4-Ingredient Creamy Mashed Potatoes:

  1. Bring a medium-sized pot of about 10 cups of water to a boil and salt heavily (we’re talkin’ salty like the sea!).
  2. Once it reaches a boil, carefully add the potatoes and boil for about 10 minutes, or until fork tender.
  3. Strain the water, reserving about 2 cups worth for later.
  4. Return the potatoes back to the pot and mash them using a potato masher or a fork to your desired smoothness.
  5. Return to the pot to about medium heat and add in the sour cream, butter and Italian seasoning. Allow it to reach a slow “simmer” (once it starts to slightly bubble and pop).
  6. Continue to slowly simmer the mash while stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste, then serve.
