Salsa de Aguacate
Salsa de Aguacate is a creamy, tangy, and spicy avocado salsa perfect for topping tacos, drizzling over grilled meats, or enjoying with tortilla chips. Blended with sautéed chilies, garlic, onion, and fresh lime juice, it strikes a balance between richness and heat while staying incredibly versatile. Thin it out for a taquera-style salsa or keep it thick and dip-worthy—either way, it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 jalapeño
- 1 – 2 serrano peppers depending on desired level of heat
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/4 onion
- 1/4 bunch cilantro
- 1 avocado
- Juice of one lime
- Salt to taste
- About 1 – 2 cups of water to thin out the salsa as needed
Instructions
- Fry the jalapeño, serrano(s), garlic and onion in oil over medium heat until cooked through.
- Transfer the fried ingredients to a blender.
- Add the cilantro, avocado, lime juice, salt, and frying oil to the blender.
- Add 1/4 cup of water at a time and blend until completely smooth, adjusting the amount of water depending on your desired salsa thickness.
- Taste and adjust the salt as needed.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to use.
Notes
- 1 cup of water makes a thicker salsa perfect for dipping; 2 cups yields a pourable taquera-style salsa.
- If you want less spice, remove the seeds from the jalapeño and serrano before frying.
- For extra brightness, add a touch more lime juice at the end.
- Keeps well in the fridge for 2–3 days, but best enjoyed fresh due to the avocado.
- Great as a topping for tacos, bowls, grilled chicken, or roasted veggies.
