Morir Soñando
Morir Soñando is a classic Dominican drink made with cold evaporated milk, fresh orange juice, and vanilla. Sweet, creamy, and refreshing, it’s the perfect balance of citrus and dairy. The secret in this recipe is keeping both liquids very cold to prevent curdling and achieve a perfectly smooth, frothy texture!
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 cups evaporated milk, very cold
- ¼ cup granulated sugar, or to taste
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh orange juice, chilled
- Juice of 1–2 limes, optional (chilled)
- Ice cubes, for serving
Instructions
- In a large pitcher, stir together cold evaporated milk, sugar, and vanilla until sugar dissolves.
- Keep chilled.
- If not pre-chilled, add a handful of ice to the pitcher to cool the milk mixture.
- Just before serving, slowly pour in orange juice and lime juice while stirring constantly to prevent curdling.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the drink over. Serve immediately, cold and frothy.
Notes
- The colder the ingredients, the smoother and creamier the drink.
- Add lime juice for extra brightness and tang.
- If the milk isn’t cold enough, add ice cubes directly to the pitcher.
- Best enjoyed fresh — storing leftovers may cause the mixture to separate.
