Creamy Jalapeño Serrano Salsa

Creamy Jalapeño Serrano Salsa is a bold, spicy salsa with a smooth, velvety texture and deep roasted flavor. Made by frying fresh chiles with onion and garlic, then blending them with a touch of water and oil, this salsa is creamy without any dairy.
Perfect as a taco topper, dipping sauce, or spread for tortas, it’s a vibrant and versatile salsa that brings the heat and flavor in every spoonful.

Ingredients 

  • 1/4 cup neutral oil
  • 2 – 4 jalapeños, stems removed
  • 2 – 4 serranos, stems removed
  • 1/4 white onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup water
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions 

  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the jalapeños, serranos, onion, and garlic and fry for 10 – 12 minutes, or until all ingredients are softened and slightly blistered.
  • Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool for at least 15 minutes.
  • Transfer everything to a blender, including the oil.
  • Add 1/2 cup of water and blend until the salsa is completely smooth.
  • Pour the salsa into a serving bowl.
  • Season with salt to taste and thin with the remaining 1/4 cup water if needed to reach your desired consistency.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the number of chiles based on your spice preference—2 of each for medium, 4 for spicy.
  • This salsa keeps well in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
  • Great with tacos, grilled meats, eggs, or even as a dip for chips.
