Ingredients

For the simple syrup:

  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 4 tsp hot water

For the shaken espresso:

  • Ice
  • 1 shot freshly brewed espresso
  • 10 – 12 mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup creamer of choice, frothed

Instructions

  • Make the simple syrup by mixing together the sugar and hot water until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, add a handful of ice, the espresso shot, and half of the simple syrup.
  • Cover and shake for 20 – 30 seconds. Taste and add the rest of the syrup if desired.
  • In a large glass, muddle the mint leaves, then fill the glass with ice.
  • Pour in the shaken espresso and top with the frothed creamer.
  • Garnish with extra mint, stir to combine, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Fresh mint is key—don’t sub with extract.
  • You can brew the espresso in advance and chill it for an even colder drink.
  • Oat or coconut creamer adds a subtle sweetness and great foam.
  • Double the recipe for a stronger drink or to serve a friend.
  • Use a wide glass so the mint aroma hits your nose with every sip.
