Hi — my name is Stephanie
Alvarado!

I am a Los Angeles-based, first generation Salvadoran/Guatemalan-American creator and home cook with a passion for experimenting in the kitchen. I started my blog, thisisavocado.com, in November 2020 as a creative outlet for expressing my love for all things food.

My love for cooking started as a kid – growing up you would find me helping my mom whip up staple Salvadoran, Guatemalan and Mexican dishes or laying on the couch catching up on Iron Chef America on a Saturday night. But it wasn’t until I moved out of my parent’s house at the age of 18 that I had to fully cook for myself and that is when I learned how to really get creative in the kitchen. My blog and recipes are all a reflection of my favorite foods growing up, the interesting creations I made as a young adult and all the new cuisines and dishes I’ve fallen in love with along the way.
