Ingredients
For the simple syrup:
- 2 tsp sugar
- 4 tsp hot water
For the shaken espresso:
- Ice
- 1 shot freshly brewed espresso
- 10 – 12 mint leaves
- 1/4 cup creamer of choice frothed
Instructions
- Make the simple syrup by mixing together the sugar and hot water until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker, add a handful of ice, the espresso shot, and half of the simple syrup.
- Cover and shake for 20 – 30 seconds. Taste and add the rest of the syrup if desired.
- In a large glass, muddle the mint leaves, then fill the glass with ice.
- Pour in the shaken espresso and top with the frothed creamer.
- Garnish with extra mint, stir to combine, and enjoy!
Notes
- Fresh mint is key—don’t sub with extract.
- You can brew the espresso in advance and chill it for an even colder drink.
- Oat or coconut creamer adds a subtle sweetness and great foam.
- Double the recipe for a stronger drink or to serve a friend.
- Use a wide glass so the mint aroma hits your nose with every sip.
